ABOUT ME
I was raised in British Columbia, Canada where I was fully immersed in everything outdoor. This has reflected directly into my artwork. As a child, I painted primarily in watercolour, with Ingrid Baker as an instructor; continuing to create through high school, I began to experiment more with acrylic, switching over almost entirely. The canvas-building piece of this medium particularly intrigued me as I build the frames, stretch the canvas, then prime and sand over and over again. I feel present in every aspect of these pieces, from the original experience where the reference photo was taken, to the final product that I constructed entirely by hand.
Through acquiring my degree in Medical Biochemistry from UBC, I found painting to be a welcome outlet that quickly flourished into a passion. During these years, I spent many study breaks in the forest (biking, hiking, or skiing) where I found I could be entirely present with a different type of focus. I hope that through the adoring perspectives that fuel these paintings, others can reflect and appreciate the natural wonders that fill the interior of British Columbia.
